Critique
In January Stewart Beckett came to give our first critique of the year. He really was exceptionally helpful with comments of how even small changes might have made a difference to our paintings. As usual, we had the opportunity to look at all the paintings together, at the end, and we voted for Donna’s interesting portrait as our favourite (see main image above). Well done to Donna and many thanks to Stewart for an informative and interesting afternoon. One of the best critiques for a long time.

Obituary
It was sad to hear that Helga passed away recently at a great age. She was a longstanding member from the early 1970s and regularly exhibited her work until about 2016. She once held a Workshop for CAC on Extraction. She attended Sunday painting and entertained members at her house afterwards for tea. What is little known is that she and her family and her future husband all fled Germany during the war on the Kindertransport. Fond memories of an exceptional lady. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends.
THOUGHT FOR THE MONTH
Woodblock printing is the earliest known form of printing. The Chinese invented it between 712 and 756 during the treaty age of the T’Ang Culture.
